The just-opened Flatstick Pub location in South Lake Union — the company’s third and largest to date — brings new touches of whimsy and a fresh chef collaboration to its mini-golf-and-beer model, with murals from omnipresent Seattle artist Henry and pizza from Ethan Stowell Restaurants.

Flatstick Pub’s new South Lake Union location brings whimsical Henry characters to life with 3-D models.

Restaurateur Ethan Stowell (How to Cook a Wolf, Staple and Fancy, and many more) developed the food menu of brick oven pizza, entrees, salads, and bar snacks to go with the bar’s 36 beer and cider taps. And the holes feature giant statues inspired by the characters of local muralist Ryan Henry Ward (d.b.a. Henry), whose colorful animal cartoons enliven buildings all over town.

Brick-oven pizza, fish and chips, salads, and bar snacks developed by Ethan Stowell fill the menu at Flatstick Pub SLU.

The new location also includes Flatstick’s proprietary combination of shuffleboard and mini-golf, called “Duffleboard.” It’s all housed in an 11,000-square-foot former auto showroom that’s now part of the Allen Institute. Many of the building’s original elements remain, including the exterior facade.

It’s been tough for South Lake Union to attract a serious after-work crowd. With this strong combination of games, food, and art, will Flatstick Pub crack the code?

Flatstick Pub’s new address is a former auto showroom.
