At the end of July, five women came forward accusing David Meinert, owner of the 5 Point Cafe, of rape and sexual assault. Since KUOW initially reported the story, six more women have shared their stories of sexual misconduct and assault by Meinert. The women reached out to KUOW after reading the initial story ran on July 19, 2018.
The six new allegations span from 2001 to 2015.
Just last week, Meinert sold his stake in Capitol Hill businesses Comet Tavern, Lost Lake Cafe, Grim’s, and Guild Seattle, according to his business partners. Meinert has also faced backlash from musicians he represented, politicians whose campaigns he contributed to, and more. He still owns Belltown’s 5 Point Cafe, though, where he remains active.
