The long wait for Seattle’s first Shake Shack location is almost over. The East Coast’s cult burger chain confirmed the opening will be in late September, though it hasn’t set an exact date yet.
It’s been a year since the chain announced it would bring its wildly successful fast food — Shackburgers, chicken sandwiches, concretes, milkshakes — to the Emerald City with an outpost at 2115 Westlake Ave. in Denny Triangle. Seattle has been on the company’s wishlist for a while: CEO Randy Garutti is tight with the Canlis family, having befriended Mark Canlis at Cornell’s School of Hotel Administration. Garutti even became general manager of the Canlis family’s Seattle’s famous fine-dining restaurant before moving back east to join the team of Shake Shack founder Danny Meyer.
If the June Shake Shake/Canlis pop-up preview event’s insanely long lines are any indication, this opening is sure to be a madhouse. Eater will update when an official date is available.
