In October, Seattleites will have another great place to smother their food with fresh hatch chiles, when the owners of Belltown’s vital breakfast spot Bang Bang Cafe add a full-service restaurant near the Othello light rail station. Most kitchens in Seattle use the inferior canned versions of New Mexico’s famously flavorful pepper, but Albuquerque natives Miki and Yuki Sodos will continue to fly in the real thing for their new Bang Bang Kitchen.
The new restaurant’s menu isn’t set yet, but the Sodos sisters — who also own Capitol Hill’s charming Cafe Pettirosso — promise “an unpretentious, approachable menu serving up New Mexican favorites and Northwest interpretations.” That could include some favorites from Bang Bang Cafe, like fennel-turkey sausage made on-site, scones, and enormous breakfast burritos, as well as plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, as the siblings serve at their other restaurants. Bang Bang Kitchen will also have a bar and televisions for watching sports.
Bang Bang Kitchen is being built out with bright colors and a 1970s vibe in the Station at Othello Park apartment building, at 4219 South Othello St.
