Anacortes restaurant Dad’s Diner a Go Go — whose buttermilk pancakes are the best in the state, Governor Jay Inslee once proclaimed — closed its Eastlake location earlier this month. The restaurant had only been in business since September, when it opened in the former home of Babirusa. In addition to flapjacks, the vintage-style diner specialized in dishes like biscuits and gravy and fried egg sandwiches.
The business announced the news on Facebook, saying, “We had a lot of circumstantial set backs, hurdles and mountainous road blocks to overcome that we could not surmount, but ultimately we take full responsibility.”

In the end, it seems Dad’s Diner couldn’t build on the success it found in Anacortes. Online reviews from customers are decidedly mixed, with some citing poor service and subpar food, while others posted rave support. It seems those fans will have to make the trek north to get their fix.
