U District destination for sweet and spicy fried chicken Chi Mac is plotting its first expansion, with a Bellevue location soon to open.
The University Way restaurant is advertising for cooks and servers for the new location — in a Facebook comment, the restaurant indicated that a February opening was likely, although it’s possible that recent snow could delay things slightly.
Specifically, Chi Mac will be opening in Factoria, with an Eater tipster suggesting that it’ll be taking over the former location of sandwich store Sacks, in the Factoria Village strip mall.

For the uninitiated, Chi Mac keeps its focus pretty simple: the menu consists mostly of wings with a variety of glazes, ranging from gochujang to soy garlic or a Sichuan pepper option. Popcorn chicken and a whole or half fried chicken are also available, with fries, corn cheese, and fried rice as the sole non-chicken food items.
Beer is the recommended beverage to accompany the mostly-spicy menu options, with Korean beers Hite, Cass, and Kloud served, and those looking to get boozy can get a beer and soju “tower” to pour themselves at the table.
