There are signs of life at the highly anticipated Bonchon location in the works on First Hill. The paper has come off the windows, revealing a finished restaurant inside. But the insanely popular Korean fried chicken empire is otherwise keeping quiet about its opening timeline, leaving fans frustrated.

The Facebook page for Seattle’s Bonchon restaurant at 554 Broadway continues to post tantalizing food photos, but offers no word of when the restaurant will open. For months, fans have expressed their dismay in the comments, lamenting the lack of communication on the opening. At least now there’s hope the doors will be unlocked any day now.

Friend: Wait do you think we ordered too much food? Me: ....No?

Bonchon’s fast-casual business began in South Korea in 2002 and has sprouted some 200 franchises around the world, including in New York, Hawaii, and Texas. The menu of wings, drumsticks, and chicken strips is accompanied by takoyaki, Korean tacos, pork buns, rice cakes and fish cakes (tteokbokki), bibimbap, udon soup, and chicken katsu.

The Seattle restaurant has been in the works since January 2018. Bonchon has not responded to multiple messages from Eater about the opening timeline.
