The University Village shopping center is about to get even more crowded: the East Coast’s cult burger chain is planning to open a restaurant there. It’s the second Shake Shack location currently in the works — there’s another planned for Kirkland, joining the Seattle area’s first in Denny Triangle.
Shake Shack will open at 2580 NE University Village Street, though the timeline is currently unclear. Eater reached out to company officials for more details but didn’t receive a response by press time. Seattle building permit records show that the planned Shake Shack will have an outdoor patio, but no other illuminating details are available.
Shake Shack also has a Kirkland location planned, with an anticipated opening in late summer or early fall. It’s one of 14 tenants — including a Dough Zone Dumpling House — announced in a new mixed-use development called Kirkland Urban.
Shake Shack opened its first restaurant in this region in Denny Triangle this past October. That restaurant has consistently drawn long lines for its wildly successful fast food — Shackburgers, chicken sandwiches, concretes, milkshakes.
