Amazon Country just got a new lunch spot with plenty of college cred. Though it didn’t make too much noise about it, the Vietnamese fast-casual restaurant Sizzle & Crunch — which gained a loyal following in the U District in its two years of operation — recently opened up a new location in South Lake Union to serve up banh mi, rice bowls, and other popular dishes to those in the tech-heavy neighborhood. The new spot is located in the Amazon Nessie complex, right on 9th Avenue North.
Most of the fan favorites, such as the signature grilled lemongrass pork, have made it over to the SLU location, with a few additions. The new menu items include a Vietnamese corn dish flavored with garlic and butter, vermicelli bowls, and house-made pork cracklings. Everything is served cafeteria style, where customers can customize their bread and bowl toppings options.
Owner Paul Nguyen — who launched Sizzle & Crunch not long after he graduated from the University of Washington — tells Eater Seattle that, depending on how the business performs in SLU, he is considering expanding downtown or Capitol Hill next.
