The long wait for the Green Lake location of the popular Portland-born Little Big Burger chain will finally come to an end soon. The company says it will likely open next week, with a firm opening date still to be determined. The chain usually gives away free burgers on opening day, so fans should get ready to jump on the opportunity.

Little Big Burger opened a Capitol Hill location in April. The fast food chain, which hopes to add 10 restaurants in the Seattle area eventually, opened its first Seattle-area location in Wallingford last October.

The Green Lake location has seen its share of challenges. It was supposed to be the first Little Big Burger to open here, but the opening — at one point planned for mid-2018 — got hit with numerous delays. The Green Lake location even got hit with a five-day notice to pay rent or vacate the premises in late 2017 as the build out was under way.

Little Big Burger prides itself on high-quality burgers with regionally sourced ingredients, like Cascade Farms beef from Washington, local brioche buns, Tillamook cheese, and Camden’s Catsup. The company was founded in Portland in 2010 and has 12 Oregon locations, plus a presence in Austin, San Diego, and Charlotte.
