Bryn Lumsden, owner of Pioneer Square’s perpetually busy cocktail bar and restaurant Damn the Weather, will open his new Interbay restaurant Champagne Diner on Monday, August 19. The gussied-up homage to classic diner fare will replace Citizen Six, which recently moved to Lower Queen Anne.
Lumsden and his partners from Damn the Weather — Jacob Edelstein, Angel Azcarraga, and Adam Mann — put their own spin on the space at 945 W. Elliott Ave. They’ve installed diner-inspired decor like laminate tables with aluminum edges, booths, and other throwback touches.
As for the food, Lumsden and company will serve dishes like veggie pot pie, meatloaf, fish and chips, and a pork belly BLT. This being Lumsden’s project, a well conceived drinks list is a must. Here, the focus will be on original cocktails, with a small selection of beer, cider, and wines by the glass. Given the name, the restaurant will also keep the champagne flowing, with options to purchase bottles for in-house consumption sans corkage fees, or to-go from a bottle shop.
