A new Korean barbecue restaurant called Son of a Butcher is now open in Eastlake. The restaurant replaces Dad’s Diner, the spin-off of the Anacortes restaurant that closed in January. Son of a Butcher serves dishes like chicken wings, bibimbap, and japchae, with tabletop grills for cooking vegetables and meat like short ribs, pork belly, and bulgogi beef.

The new restaurant (2236 Eastlake Ave East) is already garnering rave Yelp reviews; it averages a five-star rating with 12 reviews so far. Diners are complimentary of everything from the service to the decor to the food and the prices.

So far, Son of a Butcher seems like a welcome replacement for shuttered Dad’s Diner. The Anacortes restaurant — whose buttermilk pancakes Governor Jay Inslee once proclaimed were the best in the state — had only been in business for only four months. The vintage-style diner specialized in dishes like biscuits and gravy and fried egg sandwiches.
