As Seattle continues to deal with the fallout from the COVID-19 outbreak, local chefs and restaurant owners have had to make some difficult decisions due to a steep drop in business. Just in the past week, many restaurants have announced they must shut their doors — some just temporarily, some permanently. Downtown, Belltown, and Pike Place Market have been among the neighborhoods most affected by the lack of foot traffic, with tourism declining and companies advising employees to work from home.
The latest to make temporary closing announcements are sibling Capitol Hill restaurants Altura and Carrello from acclaimed chef Nathan Lockwood, Downtown’s iconic oyster spot The Brooklyn, and popular fast-casual breakfast chain Biscuit Bitch.
Below is a running list of the confirmed closures or pending closures so far, with all considered temporary, unless otherwise noted. If you hear of any others shutting their doors, please send us a tip.
