Zuri’s Donutz, a newish sweet shop in Lynnwood from owner and baker Davis Vincent, is expanding with a Ballard pop-up location. As reported by My Ballard, the doughnut shop is one of the new tenants temporarily moving into the empty Ballard Blossom building at 1766 NW Market Street which is awaiting redevelopment as the business moves.

Vincent is working now on outfitting his Zuri’s Donutz section at the pop-up, painting walls and bringing in decor like a marble counter doughnut display. Zuri’s is known for its super-creative flavors, like ube mango or red wine doughnuts.

At the Ballard outpost, look for doughnuts like dulce de leche; a “Wood Bourbon”-inspired option; a Girl Scout-topped variety called “Scoutz Honor;” and even a flaming s’mores flavor called “Smore pleaze.” Vincent makes cakes too in flavors like lemon poppyseed or Ethiopian dark roast, and plans to also sell coffee, milk, and more goodies.

He opened his Lynnwood shop named after his daughter a couple weeks before the pandemic hit. “It’s not the easiest thing for us to operate now,” he says. “I can’t do a lot of things I would love to do.”

Vincent sees the invite to this pop-up as a great opportunity to attract Ballard customers who are out walking with their dog or kids. “Lynnwood is more of drive-up” clientele, he says.

He started as a one-man show at Zuri’s Donutz, and after staffing up, the plan is to operate the Ballard pop-up shop on the weekends. “I want people to be excited about the weekend,” he says. “‘Hey, it’s Friday, Zuri’s open.’”
