Eating black eyed peas on New Year’s Day is all about luck and prosperity, and even if it’s just a superstition dating back a few hundred years, it can’t hurt right? Steelhead is honoring the occasion with Carlton Farms All Natural Pork Chop with Black Eyed Peas and Smothered Collard Greens.

Chicken and waffles, pork belly, and steak and eggs are just some of the many alcohol-soaking dishes on the menu, and whether or not you slept local on NYE, at least you can eat that way… Oh, and there’s something called a mimosa flight? We’re in.

Oddfellows Cafe

Who cares if it’s a Wednesday? Oddfellows doesn’t, so they’re serving their weekend brunch menu to help you fix your life. Baked eggs and ham? Brioche french toast? Just get there and they’ll fix you.

Hattie's Hat Restaurant

New years are all about rebirth, right? Let the sick sense of irony wash over you as you eat the Chicken Fried Chicken and Eggs, a classic Hattie’s dish that’s as disturbing as it is delicious. Who cares if some randos say chickens are somehow bad luck for the new year, because it’s so good, you’ll feel like you can make your own luck.

Linda's Tavern

Bacon, you guys. That’s all we can think about sometimes when we think about making our lives better. Linda’s will have that, and a bunch more food stuffs, for their special brunch on New Year’s Day. Cowboy tacos? Bloody Mary? Done.

Lost Lake Cafe & Lounge

Your body can only hold so much liquor, which is why bars close between 2 and 6 am. But LL lets you hang tough all night long, so even if you can’t possibly drink more, you can always grab a soda and some poutine at this 24 hour, always open, Cap Hill spot.

ART Restaurant & Lounge

Feeling fancy? Put on your favorite morning-after frock (oh, you’re already wearing it? Super) and head to the Four Seasons for a special benedict brunch. With a buffet ($28) or an a la carte menu ($14) Buffet, you can tackle fancy breakfast with gusto. Options include smoked salmon bennies, short rib with red wine redux, fried chicken and waffles, southern style biscuits and gravy, and more. Because this year, you’ll be classy.

Ballard Smoke Shop

Check out the 5th Annual Polar Bear Plunge at Golden Gardens — as an observer or brave participant — and then warm up with some greasy diner digs at the Smoke Shop. Heck, you might even find that phone number on the ground you dropped while celebrating last night…

Harbor City Restaurant

The ultimate cure for a hangover? Dim sum, and the offerings at Harbor City are among the best in town. With plenty of salty, sweet, meaty, bite-sized delights, even the more indecisive among us can find satisfaction. Shu mai? Sure thing.

Din Tai Fung - University Village

Not going out tonight and therefore able to stand in line in the morning without inflicting pain on others? Perfect, because you’re likely going to need the patience of a saint if you want to get into DTF’s new U. Village location, or the Bellevue spot. But like a beautiful rainbow, you’ll be handsomely rewarded by a pot of gold… or soup dumplings.

Smarty Pants

They’re closing up shop early on NYE at this Georgetown bar, so your servers might be a little more empathetic if you’re feeling less than celebratory on January 1. Opening for brunch at 9 am, you can get smart with some Huevos Panteros, or any of the other dozen options — like breakfast burritos — they’re flipping at you.

Easy Street Records & Cafe

Opening an hour later than normal, at 8 AM, to give you all the grub and records you’ll need to start your year right is this West Seattle wonder. Music-inspired brekkie burritos, scrambles, frittatas, and the like make you feel full and cool.

Marination Ma Kai

Spam is the new pork belly, which isn’t true, but who cares. The spam musubi at the West Seattle Marination spot and Loco Moco will totally make you feel less annoyed that your annoying couple friends are in Hawaii right now and you’re not. Open 9 am to 2 pm for breakfast, lunch, and all that jazz.

Just go eat the chicken fried steak and get a side of grits and call us after your four hour nap. You’ll be fine.
