Like most holidays lately, Memorial Day weekend will be more muted than usual during Washington’s stay-at-home order. But even if large backyard barbecues are out, there are still many ways to mark the official beginning of summer with celebratory feasts. Here are some of the restaurants that should be open all weekend for takeout (or at least preorders), offering smoked brisket, ribs, tacos, burgers, and refreshing cocktails worthy of the long weekend. Since services shift often now, call ahead to make sure each restaurant is still open. If you see any changes, or if there’s a place you’d like to see on the list, send us a tip.Read More
Where to Order Great Memorial Day Meals for Takeout In Seattle
From smoked ribs to Hawaiian feasts to fluffy fry breads, and more
Sunset Hill’s new pizzeria is turning to a meaty takeout menu for Memorial Day. There’s a picnic-sized meal kit that includes ribs, mac salad, and fire-roasted fingerling potatoes, as well as smash burgers, waffle fries, and Detroit-style pies. Among the cocktails to-go: summery coolers and something called a Kentucky Lawn Chair with mint, bourbon, and lemonade.
For all one’s Memorial Day grilling needs, this restaurant/butcher shop/bar hybrid in Maple Leaf has shifted heavily to retail with its high-quality, locally-sourced meat selections, such as Snake River Farms bavette, available as part of butcher boxes. There are also now plenty of gin and rye cocktails to-go.
Ballard’s barbecue specialist serves outstanding sandwiches, such as the pepperoncini-braised beef, as well as big platters of meat, from pork belly to ribs to smoked chicken. There’s beer, wine, and cocktail kits (such as creamed old fashioneds) to-go as well. Available for takeout and delivery through Chownow.

Chef Maria Hines’s longtime Wallingford favorite is serving a barbecue heat-at-home meal this weekend for curbside pickup, with a choice of applewood smoked brisket or St. Louis-style smoked ribs, sides such as potato salad, pasta salad, and vegetable skewers, and salted caramel budino for dessert. There’s also a Maker’s Mark old fashioned kit available as an add-on.
Off The Rez Cafe
The U District spinoff of the popular Native American food truck has recently reopened for contactless delivery and pickup orders. On the menu: those beloved fluffy fry breads, served either solo or with a variety of savory and sweet toppings, along with wild rice bowls with toppings such as braised bison.
The Whale Wins
Chef Renee Erickson’s Northlake mainstay is offering up ready-to-grill meal kits packaged in a tote bag for curbside pickup. Items include harissa and yogurt-marinated chicken with chermoula, asparagus, green garlic potato salad, and dinner rolls. There are also cocktails for two, including Moscow mules, palomas, and limonatas.
The restaurant based on the acclaimed pop-up usually focuses on Pacific Northwest fare, but is introducing a mashup with some Southern smoked meat dishes for its Memorial Day weekend takeout menu (available for preorder and pickup). Items include baby back ribs, brisket, and chicken wings.
Capitol Hill’s upscale farm-to-table restaurant has adjusted to takeout in recent weeks, and is now offering a “grill box” for preorder and pickup, which includes lemon herb marinated chicken, New York steak, marble potato salad, and spring onion chimichurri. Plus, there’s some frozen wagyu beef and sausages from Oregon’s Nicky USA for those who want to stock up the freezer.
Marination Ma Kai
The Alki flagship of Marination’s mini fast casual empire has reopened, with a limited menu of backyard barbecue-friendly meals to-go, such as the “luau pack” (with kalua pork and Hawaiian rolls), build-your-own tacos, and sliders (pork or Spam). To drink: lychee margaritas, froses, jalapeno fizzes, and sangria for up to four.
Drunky Two Shoes BBQ
Some may bristle at the garish decor at this mini Seattle chain, but the meat selection is no joke. Best bets include the rib tips, smoked bone marrow, and the barbecue parfait: a jar of meat and sides. Available for takeout with curbside pickup; larger orders can be delivered.
