Skagit Valley’s annual rite of spring is back. A year after canceling the 2020 festivities due to the pandemic, the month-long Tulip Festival is open this April, with a few COVID-related changes, including advanced ticketing for Tulip Town and RoozenGaarde at reduced capacity. Those who want to take in the color-drenched fields of flowers may also want a good spot to eat, and the region’s dining options feature a terrific mix of classic Pacific Northwest small-town cafes, grills, pubs, and international cuisines. Here are some of the best places keeping the taste buds of tulip fans satisfied.
All places listed offer takeout, but a number of restaurants in Skagit County have resumed indoor and outdoor dining as well, with indoor capacity at 50 percent in phase 3 of the state’s reopening plan. The level of service offered is indicated on each map point. However, this should not be taken as endorsement for dining in, as there are still safety concerns: for updated information on coronavirus cases in the area, please visit Skagit County’s COVID update page. Studies indicate that there is a lower exposure risk when outdoors, but the level of risk involved with patio dining is contingent on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines.
