A dedicated recreation of a German beer hall, this place is big enough to fit a party of any size and has a menu stacked with hearty Eastern European fare (including plenty of brats and schnitzel), along with imported beers delivered in huge steins. All that’s missing is the lederhosen.

Cafe Goldinblack recently reopened with the same intriguing menu that has built a cult following since the restaurant’s founding in 2013. The menu draws influences from Korea and beyond, with options like kimchi fried rice, bibimbap, ramen, bulgogi hand rolls, and a handful of sandwiches on Macrina bread with a choice of bulgogi beef, chicken, or garlic-marinated pork. 

The French-Creole legend of Lower Queen Anne is so much more than just its unbelievable happy hour menus. Roughly 10 minutes on foot from the Space Needle, Toulouse features charcuterie, a raw bar, and fried-everything with solid drinks most hours of the day.

The KEXP listening space is one of the coolest things to happen to the Seattle Center in a long time, and the addition of the first La Marzocco Cafe from Italy’s espresso-machine expert is the cherry on top. Here, customers can grab a cup of the month’s featured coffee roaster and groove to the sweet sounds of Seattle’s world-famous radio station.

The cocktail list at this Lower Queen Anne spot is fun and polished; the wine list is mostly Italian, curated by a couple of sommelier brothers, and features more than 20 glass pours. Those looking for vegan options around the Seattle Center may want to check out this popular restaurant’s kiosk inside the Armory. Fan favorites include the lemon dill gyro with seitan on spinach naan and a barbecue pulled mushroom po’ boy with pickled cabbage and ranch aoli. Don’t forget the refreshing smoothie and juice options, such as the Hawaiian Berry Freeze, with pineapple, black and blue berries, and coconut water.

This is a neighborhood favorite for its fully stocked bar, thoughtful wine list, unfussy food, and patio. There’s even a three-hour happy hour, for those who like a good bargain.

This critically acclaimed geek-meets-chic spot in Belltown is known for wild and wonderful beers, but also wows with its carefully curated food menu. Patrons can devour smoked and pickled mussels, trout purée, ketchup chips, and unbeatable crab rolls alongside brews served at proper temperatures and beer cocktails that actually work (part of why No Anchor was a James Beard Award semifinalist for Outstanding Bar Program in 2019).

In 2018, chef Hiro Tawara opened this Japanese fine-dining restaurant devoted to the art of kaiseki. The traditional multi-course style features elegantly plated dishes served in a specific sequence to honor the seasons and Japanese culture. Late last year, it started expanding its offerings, adding temaki (DIY hand sushi rolls) for weekend lunch , and bringing on a new executive chef to work with chef-owner Hiro.

The pies at Big Mario’s made the Eater Seattle list of essential pizza restaurants, mainly for its generous, perfectly greasy New York-style slices. At the Queen Anne location, old school checkered tablecloths and retro photos on the walls help diners feel like Tony Manero. It’s also not a bad place to take the kids for families doing the tourist thing.

Hidden in plain sight above the QFC at the corner of the Seattle Center, this little haven specializes in conveyor belt sushi that goes beyond the gadgety gimmick. Chef Shinichiro Takahashi mastered the art of sushi-on-the-move for more than 15 years in Japan before tackling Seattle’s scene.
