Walla Walla is the centerpiece of the burgeoning Washington wine scene — it’s a charming town in the southeast corner of the state, surrounded by some 150 wineries. Good wine calls for good food, and the wine boom here has led to a truly remarkable restaurant scene. Standout French, Italian, Mexican, Southern, and Mediterranean cuisine are all available with a few blocks’ radius — not to mention classic diner food and a couple of excellent bakeries. All of the restaurants on the list have indoor dining at 50% capacity, in compliance with Washington’s Phase 3 COVID-19 recovery guidelines. Many also have outdoor seating, and some offer food to go. One block of 1st Avenue in downtown has been closed to traffic and equipped with tables for diners with takeaway orders.
